About Galina Stambolieva

 

 

​I was born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria. I graduated Sculpture M.A. in 2002 in the National Academy of Art in Sofia, Bulgaria. 
The years that followed I tried many things, had different jobs, got married and gave birth to my beloved two children. I traveled a lot with my family within our country, we finaly settled our home in a small mountain villalge deep in the forest, deers come to eat the apples in our backyard and salamanders walk around in no rush in rainy days. I love our home and the old barn that is going to become my artstudio one day.

At the moment I live with my family in London, UK. Recently I started experimenting in small size canvases, but my love and passion to large scale artworks is not due. I love rough handmade paper and use it in most of my projects, often prepared by myself. I also photograph my works and do the postproduction by my own. To me each part of this process is as much important as the creating of an artwork itself and I put lots of energy so I would feel satisfied at the end.
